Harvey Cassidy, M.D., is a family physician with a focus on patient-centered care and a heart for teaching. His experience caring for patients adds a dynamic angle to his work with The Institute for Healthcare Excellence (IHE), as well as a special insight to his teaching.
He practiced at Mayo Clinic Florida for 25 years and was honored with the “Distinguished Clinician Award” by Mayo Clinic. He has been an active member and presenter for the Communication in Healthcare committee at Mayo Clinic.
Dr. Cassidy has received numerous awards for teaching including being named twice as “Teacher of the Year” for the Department of Family Medicine at Mayo Clinic, the “Exemplary Teaching Award” from the Florida Academy of Family Physicians, the “Outstanding Educator of the Year” award from Mayo Clinic, and the Mead-Johnson Award for Graduate Medical Education.
Dr. Cassidy has served on certification/recertification committees for the American Board of Family Medicine. He is a member of American Academy of Family Medicine, and a member of Florida Academy of Family Medicine. He was Associate Editor of Human Diseases and Conditions, Vol. 1-4.
Dr. Cassidy is a graduate of The Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University and completed his residency training in Family Medicine at Geisinger Medical Center in Pennsylvania.
He became Chair of Family Medicine at Geisinger and subsequently became Chair of Family Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Florida.
